It’s easy to get discouraged when you turn on the television and see nothing but negative news. Life has changed drastically in the last two months and sometimes it’s difficult to find the silver lining. Fortunately for us, several organizations in Manatee County have stepped up in so many significant ways to help our community and we want to highlight these community All-Stars in upcoming blogs.
The Manatee Chamber of Commerce has come out in full force in supporting our local businesses. Not only have they provided resources through their website, they have created a Facebook page called Manatee Strong, which has amassed over 5.5 thousand likes in just over a month.
The page receives about 100 posts a day from various people in the community. Posts range from unemployment assistance, Manatee County Government updates to takeout specials. This Facebook community is banding together to raise awareness in order to assist others during these trying times.
“The Chamber still offers ways for you to connect, network and learn something new.”
The Chamber’s website has linked the Florida Department of Health’s website so you can stay in the know with local COVID-19 updates. They’ve also created a database for restaurants offering carry-out, curbside and delivery options. It is also noted where you can purchase gift cards. If that’s not enough, the Chamber updates their job employment search page to keep you informed of the employers who are hiring during this pandemic.
The Chamber still offers ways for you to connect, network and learn something new. They have several virtual events where you can still see faces and catch up with your peers. Here are some of their upcoming events:
- Virtual Power Connection Lunch | May 6, 12:00 – 1:00 PM
- Webinar: Workforce Wellness – Managing Your Mental Health as an Organizational Leader | May 8, 11:00 – 11:45 AM
- Webinar: Harnessing the Power of Microsoft Teams | May 12, 9:00 – 11:00 AM.
- Virtual Business After Hours | May 12, 5:00 – 7:00 PM
- Virtual Power Connection Breakfast | May 13, 8:30 – 9:30 AM
As you can see, Jackie Dezelski and her team are doing incredible work to keep you informed and assist you with local resources and ways to still connect with others. The Chamber jumped right in to help and it shows how much they care about our community.
Thanks for keeping Manatee strong.
