Let’s Connect, Bradenton!

Here at Connect, we are surrounded by business owners who are making strides in the community to make Bradenton a better place. Connect Bradenton member, Jean Henderson MS, RDN, LDN, aims to make its residents better versions of themselves. As a licensed registered dietitian with a Masters in Exercise Physiology specializing in Sports Nutrition, Jean’s passion to help people on their healthy journey is one she’s proud of.

“I became a licensed dietitian because my passion is helping people feel their best so they can enjoy their lives,” she said. “I changed my career path from accounting to nutrition because I was having health issues. When I changed my food choices, I experienced how quickly my health issues went away, my overall mental and physical health improved and I lost weight.”

As a result of her own transformation, Jean became a licensed dietitian in 2016 and hasn’t looked back since.

“I decided to get a formal education in nutrition because I wanted to have a comprehensive, science based understanding of how the body works and how to eat to have optimal mental and physical functioning.  I was looking for the ‘fountain of youth’ as I believe that age is just a number.”

Jean has worked in a variety of clinical settings including hospitals, rehabilitation centers and diabetes management clinics providing evidence based medical nutrition therapy. Her experience includes working with “children, college students and adults providing nutrition services for wellness and disease management.”

Another interesting part of Jean’s training and experience was working with world-class athletes from amateur to high level professional sports including NFL players. Jean has also provided her services to tactical and military personnel including the Navy Seals and Green Beret.

“With the athletic population, nutrition services included meal planning and education with the goal of peak mental and physical performance,” she said.

“It’s very rewarding to empower my clients and see the changes from the first meeting to their final session.”

Despite working with a host of professional athletes, Jean’s approach to her work remains the same amongst all clients.

“It’s very rewarding to empower my clients and see the changes from the first meeting to their final session.”

Jean has been a faithful member of Connect Bradenton since last year. We are so honored she chose us to start her business “Fuel for Life” here.

“Wade and Undine have been very helpful and wonderful to work with. The building is in a great part of downtown Bradenton with convenient parking. The building, parking lot and surrounding area is clean and provides a professional environment for my business.”

We introduced Jean to other business owners and entrepreneurs through our networking group “Let’s Connect” which now meets virtually online Tuesdays and Thursdays. Jean fit right in.

“Being a part of ‘Let’s Connect’ has been a wonderful experience. I’ve been able to meet like minded people in a supportive, diverse group,” she said. “It’s given me a lot of resources that I needed to help me get the business open. It has also been a great place to learn how to promote the business.  Very nice group of people with a broad range of services.”

“Fuel for Life” is officially open for business. If you’d like to get in touch with Jean and schedule an appointment, email her at jean.fuelforlife@gmail.com or call 941-518-7994.
